OperaTunity’s Outreach program is a 11 month (September – July) music and theatre arts program offering class instruction in music theory, opera performance choir, preparatory choir, and Broadway performance with a full season of performance opportunities. OperaTunity Outreach makes available instruction in these disciplines to low-income students in the south shore and Boston by providing full or partial scholarships that help cover tuition and production needs. A summer program is also offered.

OUTREACH GOALS / STANDARDS

Funding will support Operatunity's Outreach program where musically merited children-in- need will learn the skills needed to participate in fully staged productions. Students are required to study music theory, participate in ensemble rehearsals, and acquire acting, staging and choreography skills. Musical literacy is at the heart of our program. The program will culminate in four annual productions. Performances include: a Holiday production, an opera with professional opera singers and orchestra, an all student musical production, and an end of the year concert.

The mission of the OperaTunity Outreach program is to encourage economically disadvantaged youth in grades two through twelve to recognize and achieve their full potential through in-depth participation in our fully integrated theatre arts program. With consistently high expectations and intensive training, we provide students the tools needed to achieve success as artists. With expert guidance and unwavering support; we inspire them to achieve success in other areas of their lives, such as their schoolwork and interpersonal relationships.

Faculty includes Artistic Director/Voice . Choir Instructor Andrea DelGiudice, Theatre Arts Director/Choreographer Dori Bryan, Music Theory Instructor Heather Kirby, Acting Instructor Kacee Staiti , Dance instructor, Kassandra Grant and Voice and piano Instructors Allison Leaheey and Susan Magnuson.
